Zikii

Zikii was rescued by the Ocean Group Watersports team based in Six Senses Kanuhura during a turtle safari near Kuredu, in Lhaviyani Atoll. She was found entangled in a ghost net and, although the team tried to release her, she was unable to dive. Realizing she needed further care, our team brought her to the Centre. Upon examination, we discovered that Zikii was missing her left back flipper, and her right front flipper was severely swollen with a deep entanglement wound. Unfortunately, the injury was so severe that amputation was necessary.

 

Despite her challenges, Zikii was incredibly brave throughout the rescue and admission process. She is showing a good appetite and strong swimming abilities, even with two flippers missing. We hope to see her swimming and diving freely in the ocean again very soon!
