Ahuliha (named after the monsoon period during which she was rescued, a time that marks fewer storms and calmer days ahead) is a female olive ridley who was found floating in very shallow water at Medhufushi Island Resort. At first, they believed she was struggling due to the strong currents and waves that day, especially after noticing she was missing her right front flipper, but she was unable to dive and it became clear that she needed further help.
Upon her arrival at our centre, she was very dehydrated and underweight, and she also had a large wound on her carapace suspected to be a sunburn. While x-rays revealed some free air in her body cavity, which is causing her buoyancy issues, the condition appears to be mild, and we are hopeful she will overcome it soon.
