Saira

Saira was found entangled in a ghost net by a local fisherman that brought her to the Komandoo resort jetty, hoping for help. She was unable to dive, so they carefully brought her out of the water and waited for our team to arrive and take over her care. On admission, Saira had deep entanglement wounds on all four flippers and around her neck, with her left front flipper being the most severely affected, we tried our best to save the flipper, but it was so badly infected that an amputation was necessary.

 

Despite it all, Saira is showing a strong spirit, she’s eating well, swimming, diving, and resting at the bottom of her tank like a normal turtle. We hope to see her back in the ocean very soon!
