Community Engagement, Outreach and Education

As atoll marine centre is run locally and on a local island. We have the unique opportunity to be directly involved in our community. From visiting schools across the Maldives to the annual turtle festival held every year since 2016.

Community engagement is one of the most important aspects of what we do in lhaviyani and surrounds.

School Outreach

As part of our community outreach efforts, we believe in the importance of educating the next generation to grow up as stewards of our environment. That’s why we visit schools across various islands and atolls, as well as host live streams for audiences in other countries, to share knowledge about our marine ecosystems and the need to protect them.

Resort Outreach

We believe resort outreach is incredibly important as it enables us to connect with a global audience, sharing our mission and the valuable work we do. Additionally, it provides an opportunity to inform visitors about the challenges facing the Maldives' marine environment, fostering awareness and inspiring action on a worldwide scale.

Lhaviyani Turtle Festival

The Lhaviyani Turtle Festival is an annual event, hosted by Naifaru Juvenile in collaboration with the Atoll Marine Centre and Atoll Volunteers since 2016. Now the largest marine community outreach event outside Malé, it attracts over 3,000 attendees, combining education, culture, and conservation.
