Dua is an adult female olive ridley sea turtle that was rescued from a ghost net by the Marine Team at Soneva Jani on a December morning, at the beginning of entanglement season.
During the rescue, she unfortunately lost a flipper, which caused active bleeding and required her admission to our rescue centre. Upon arrival, Dua needed attentive medical care to stop the bleeding from her missing right front flipper, as well as to clean the many wounds she had on her carapace, head and other limbs, some of them seriously infected. A couple of days after her arrival, we had a pleasant surprise: Dua was diving and resting at the bottom of her tank! She is definitely an incredible example of resilience, and we hope to see her back in the ocean very soon.
